Bankside Hotel Residency Spring 2026
I had a wonderful time at the Bankside hotel in the spring bringing my Rhythm of Memory collection to life. What am amazing space! To be able to work on a larger scale gave me the opportunity to think bigger and more expressivly. Thanks to everyone who came along to see me :-) You rock! ************************************************************************************************************************************* Working within the language of contemporary abstract expressionism, Her practice translates lived experience into colour, movement, and rhythm, creating paintings that feel visceral, immediate, and deeply human. During her up and coming residency at the Bankside Hotel in the spring, Nicola will develop a new large-scale series titled 'The Rhythm of Memory - An Intuitive Exploration. The works will function as emotional landscapes, distilling personal memories into gestural marks, layered textures and dynamic compositions. A central element of the residency will be the connection between sound and gesture. Deeply influenced by music, Nicola uses rhythm as a conductor for her physical movements across the canvas. Visitor to the Art Yard Studio will be able to access curated soundtracks via QR codes, creating a bridge between what they see and the music that shaped each piece - resulting in an immersive, multi sensory experience. The open studio offers a rare opportunity to witness the true birth of a painting come to life.
